Yes! The truck is in! First time since 1986 that the truck will sleep in a garage. Welcome to the rest of your life friend.  I honestly cried a little.

Kinja'd!!!

Garage tidied up with some more stuff removed and an extremely heavy mop job. Nearly everything but the cabinets on the left side have to go, likely mid week. Then the ST can come home. I’ll have to back it in, not much room, but it will have to do.

Kinja'd!!!

And, just a reminder of what the garage looked like 6 days ago(!!!). Mold on the wall, damage on the walls, dirt and shit everywhere.  And Yellow.

This might sound strange but the thing I’m most jealous of is that your power panel is in the garage which would make adding 220V outlets/chargers much easier than if the panel was in the basement like mine.

If that happened to one of our cars...it would almost certainly pee on the floor. They are most definitely not house trained!

Congratulations...

Sub-panel!  Thats what my dad and I did in mine - one cable pull up, set a sub-panel, then run all the circuits I want out of it. And by all I mean up to 12, because thats how many breakers the panel holds. It helps that the garage has attic space above and is only partially finished, so its easy to drop wires down the wall.

Easier or cheaper? If your panel is in the basement, how hard would it really be to just run a long run of wire from the basement to the garage for a 220v outlet?

I’d rather have the panel in the basement as it makes running wires to the rest of the house easier. I had one in the garage once and it was too much fishing through walls for my taste.

That is a significant collection of green storage tubs. Garage looks great, though.

Trucks appreciate a good car hole. Mine stays so much cleaner now that it lives in the garage full time.

Huh...didn’t know you could rent those. Is the rental cheaper than just buying cardboard boxes?

Don’t know if cheaper, but certainly greener :P

Honestly even the “before” isn’t that bad at all. Our garage is a mess right now. It has space for the 2 cars that live in it, but other than that it’s a mess of tools, home repair leftovers, xmas decorations, outgrown toddler stuff, and who knows what else all over the place .

We had garage door repair folks over last week and told them how embarassed we were, and they said ours is actually better than a good 80% of the garages they see. And that makes sense seeing all the garages in the nieghborhood - filled to the brim with crap, and cars parked outside as a result.

I should have mentioned  that it’s a finished basement and the access is not easy. It’s also not a straight shot due to the footprint of the house.

We did that at my dad’s house too but my basement is finished and the house isn’t configured so that a straight shot is possible. It’s doable but not easy.

Perhaps even a cleanliness play as well: cardboard can absorb germs and such....plastic not so much. I work for a company that manufactures in a clean room environment (medical/pharma stuff), so cardboard and wooden pallets are a big no-no.

Yeah, these come “clean” but we still wiped them down before using them

So how’s the drainage?  I don’t see a drain in the floor, so I assume it’s graded toward the outside.  Does it drain well? I find that important for using a garage for things other than just storing the car.

That’s genius. Definitely doing that if/when I move.

How did you find a place to rent them from?

Looks great, congrats! After 11 years in our house with no garage, we’re finally.... buying more land instead of building the garage.

However, now that we own the land on the other side of our current property line, we don’t have to worry about where the garage/driveway/parking area goes, as it was going to be pretty close to the line on that side.

All we need is more money lol

My house has a workshop garage(next to the main garage)  with a sub-panel and the garage is wired for a few 240v outlets. Whoever built the garage must have had some crazy tools. I love it.

I think I just saw their trucks around.  It's called frogbox, maybe there is a franchise in your area?

I think Geico might want to have words with them. Their mascot looks like the geico Geko’s cousin .

Another shout out for Frogboxes, have used them several times . Super convenient and a lot greener than using a ton of cardboard.
